No bleach available due to corona virus

Can't speak for Texas but bleach is hard to come by here in NH as well but lots of the hardware stores here carry "liquid chlorine", which is basically higher concentrated bleach. Can buy it by the case up here with no issue.

    Natural Gas or Heat Pump

I find it interesting that heat pumps are "useless" in Mass. I live in NH and have a heat pump (no natural gas anywhere in my town so propane was my only other option) and I open my pool at the end of April (3 days ago). I run the heat pump during the day and can add about 10 degrees per day...

Still giving props to the BBB!!!

As I say, the worst part of BBB is that I spend too much time trying to vacuum every speck off the bottom of my pool. Water is so clear I can see every little thing that gets in there (and sometimes try to vacuum the shadow of something floating). No other way to go.

Don't trust your local pool store!!!

You have to take the pool store for what it is, an operation that someone is trying to make a living off. I test my own water and get what I need there (extra drops, DE, floats for the kids..) and even have them test my water from time to time (why not, I'm there anyway). They tell me what...

Spring Opening is so much fun!

Awesome that you saved big bucks! I love to open early and close late...that is the reason I have a heater! I do it mostly for the kids (my 9 year old will swim most any time) but I love being out there myself.

Spring Opening is so much fun!

What kind of deals are you talking about that have you opening in March? Up here in NH I typically open this week (our April school vacation) but due to warm weather I opened last weekend. I got it up to 80 pretty quickly with my heat pump, worth it since it is pretty easy to keep it there...

    The Problem with BBB

The dirty secret no one wants to talk about.....once your water is so clear and balanced, you will see every speck of dirt that falls to the bottom! My friends and family think I am strange for pulling out the pool vac. 4 or 5 times per hour.....Have a great summer!

    Early open in NH

Had to fish deck chairs out of the pool twice today as well as countless numbers of leaves. But no complaining here, 24 hours and 10.5 gallons of bleach in and my water is almost to that crystal clear and "sparkly" stage.....I fully expect to be there by tomorrow and the weekend forecast is for...

Upstate NY, April 26th. Should I open it up?

Got mine open in NH yesterday. No green but the hazy blue that I typically open to. 9 gallons of bleach in and it is clearing up, headed to the store for more bleach today. The only issue with early opening here is the wind and the leaves and debris that end up in my pool throughout the day...

    Early open in NH

In general, I am of the belief that pool owners should not complain about cleaning and such, but, really, does there have to be 30mph wind gusts the day after I open? It appears that every leaf and piece of debris from my neighborhood is going into my pool today! At least the water is clearing...

    Another TFP success story!

My buddy recently bought a house with a pool. The house had been foreclosed on and the pool had not been open for 2-3 years. I pointed him to this website and the BBB method. We opened to the green mess below. A week and a half and 80 gallons of bleach later his family was swimming in it...

heat pump forming ice on and out?

I have a heat pump (aquacomfort) and it too will ice up from time to time but when this happens it automatically kicks into "defrost" mode and takes care of it. I have only noticed ice buildup when running in the pump in cooler temps, I know your post says it is 75 but was it running overnight...
