Just tested my fill water. mknauss it is almost exactly like yours! pH 8.0, TA 130, CH 260.

OK- just added a gallon of bleach, swept the whole pool. Didn't notice any other spots or discolorations. Scrubbed at the original spot with a puck and a wire brush- nothing happened. It is a dark reddish-brown spot. Could it be from the high CH level? Or some other mineral staining? I think...

Thanks pabeader. I think I am going to wait a few days- maybe test it on Monday or Tuesday. If I can stand to wait that long! :) I am going to bring my FC up to 4 for now and see if it will hold. At this point should I worry about the TA being high and the CH being low?

Ok- so I am going to add another gallon of liquid stabilizer now and retest my CYA tomorrow. In the meantime for today, I will test FC every couple of hours and try to get it up to at least 5 (that's as high as I can test until I get my other kit). I will keep posting and asking for next steps...

1 1/2 hours later- FC down to 1. Thinking it is due to not enough CYA. But I am going to wait until tomorrow to retest that. Should I add more bleach? Or correct the pH now?
