    Hayward SuperPumps and SWG Pools

Last year I replaced the motor on my Hayward SuperPump after only three seasons of use. This year, after only one season, a bearing has already gone out due to a failed seal. A local motor shop (that services pumps/motors for most of the local pool installers) said that recently they have seen...

Pump tripping breaker - any ideas?

Now that I have shut-off my pump/ motor to prevent further damage until I can replace the bearings, my pool water will not be circulating for at least 2-3 days. Will my water stay clear without being filtered? Also, with no circulation my SWG is not making chlorine. should I add any chemicals...

Pump tripping breaker - any ideas?

Thanks again. I am starting to wonder, at least for me, if it would be easier to just replace the entire motor/pump assembly. It has been is use summer seasons only since 2008, when our pool was built, 24 hours per day. The assembly is a Hayward model SP2607X10 Does anyone have any...

Pump tripping breaker - any ideas?

Awesome help. Thanks to all. Is there a bearing at both ends of the motor? How do I identify any required seals, and, where do I buy these?

Pump tripping breaker - any ideas?

Thanks much, but, is replacing bearings a fairly simple procedure? Where could I obtain instructions?

Pump tripping breaker - any ideas?

Sorry for digging up this old post but it is relevant to a problem I am now experiencing. I started my pool pump two days ago after being idle since I winterized my pool in the fall. At first the pump would not start, so, I had to pull the motor end and manually turn the shaft to break it free...

First Time Pool Closing Question Regarding Blowing Out Lines

Thanks Scott, Are you saying to open the drain on the filter before starting to blow the lines? Wouldn't this decrease the pressure available to blow out the lines?

First Time Pool Closing Question Regarding Blowing Out Lines

I read through the posts regarding the procedure to blow out my lines. I have the general idea but need clarification on a few things: I have a salt water inground pool with Hayward sand filter with the valve on top. I plan to use my air compressor which I will connect to the pump basket at the...

    Solar Cover Reel Choices

Thanks for all the comments. Today I ordered a Rocky's Roller 3A from Solarcovers.com. Figured I'd better just bite the bullet on this one.

    Solar Cover Reel Choices

I've quickly learned how much easier my life would be with a reel for our solar cover. We have a 12ga solar cover which is 18'x40' lg to cover our entire in-ground pool including the walk-in steps on the one end. I like the Rocky's Roller Model 3A, but, it is very $$$$. I do realize you get...

Frustrated New User of TF-100 and BBB System Has Questions

Pool school says borate levels should be in the 30-50 range for SWG. Mine is only 29. Considering the margin of error to be +/- 10 points this could put me below the minimum. Should I bring my levels up to mid-range (40 or so)?

Frustrated New User of TF-100 and BBB System Has Questions

How important is it that I have the pH and TA dead nuts where they are supposed to be before I had the Borax and MA to bring up my borate level?

Frustrated New User of TF-100 and BBB System Has Questions

Thanks for the comments. I plan to add a fountain; For both looks and aeration. I am using the white paper behind the test block, but, still having problems comparing the colors. Tonight at the pool store I was honest and told them I was trying to learn how to test my own water and use generic...

Frustrated New User of TF-100 and BBB System Has Questions

I am brand new this year to the TF-100 test kit. After reading this forum I felt foolish paying the outrageous prices for the Bio-Guard Mineral Springs products at my pool installers local store. I am becoming frustrated trying to balance my water. 1. How long does it take for the TA to drop...

Discharging Saltwater from Filter Onto Concrete Driveway

Whenever I back-wash or remove water from my pool, the water runs down my concrete driveway into the rain gutter that runs along the street. I know that putting salt on concrete is a bad idea when using full strength, for example, to melt ice. Will the water from my SWG pool damage the surface...
