Agree. Waiting on raypak info before proceeding.

condensation on my new heater's gas line

Will try to find out from raypak what the allowable gas pipe clearances are. They didn't specify them in the install manual. Since the unit is built with the gas inlet 2.5" from the vent cover I'd hope the clearances can be pretty minimal, but it doesn't seem to be the case. While I initially...

condensation on my new heater's gas line

No, I believed the equipment swap was a minimal emergency changeover. I thought he'd use a flexi-line for the heater actually. I have a whole house tankless heater using one even. Likewise with a whole house gas generator I identified the missing sediment trap issue and had him add one for...

condensation on my new heater's gas line

According to this: https://inspectagator.com/2020/06/01/improper-gas-line-sediment-trap-installation/ Two of the 3 orientations for the Tee to the sediment tap are valid, including the one that my installer used... I checked the rest of my house and none of my furnaces or tankless heaters have...

condensation on my new heater's gas line

I didn't see anything in the quoted text or descriptions that says the supply has to come from the top. I don't think that's a reasonable interpretation but I'm certainly no expert. Yes, it doesn't seem to be working right to have the exhaust that close to the supply line. I do note that...

Yes, that's what the installer added. Tee. Nipple. Cap. Check.

condensation on my new heater's gas line

Hmm, condensation seems to have nearly stopped with water temp above 74 or so (pipes still wet but concrete is now dry). Concrete is grey/brown mix to the eye but shows up with a green tint with LED lighting. Iphone seems to just be screwing up color space.

condensation on my new heater's gas line

If you look at the daylight pic there is no green or white. I don't know why the flash makes it look that way, there is not much to see. Yes I think I see a little white on the concrete in the back corner, probably from the old heater. There is no algae, just ficus leaves that keep blowing...

condensation on my new heater's gas line

16 years. With the top vent, the heater let a lot of rainwater in and the last rainstorm finally rusted it out too far to repair.

condensation on my new heater's gas line

Yes, I already saw that picture from reading the raypak manual. It does not detail a drip leg materially differently from my pics as far as I can tell. The condensation is not "all over the place" it's puddling on my slab under the gas pipe. I put a pan under the gas pipes and now the slab is...

condensation on my new heater's gas line

I don't think it's as much as it seems from the flash photo; maybe 1 drop/min weaping off the gas pipes. I could try calling but if I just get a CSR reading a script I can't imagine that helping.

condensation on my new heater's gas line

Yes, aware that combustion produces water, but this seems to be condensation emanating with contact to the cold gas pipe not condensation drip from just combustion itself. It's not as if there's water on other surfaces such as the side of the heater. The Previous heater did not produce any...

condensation on my new heater's gas line

So with a couple elbows, moved say 1 foot further to the left of the heater, almost into the landscaping? What is wrong with the drip leg (I don't know gas plumbing). Previous heater had no drip leg at all so this was just added.

Easier said than done. The gas line comes out of the concrete in front of the heater, see pics. I'm thinking the most practical would be for the vent to be extended to vent further away from the unit.
