    Almost no CYA - - Can I close ?

Thanks for the input. I'm in Atlanta GA....or my pool is I had been getting a 30 CYA up until a few weeks ago when I vacuumed and back washed...a lot. Didn't test until Saturday when my test was clear...pool store said 5. Wasn't sure if it would be OK to put the polyquat in...

    Almost no CYA - - Can I close ?

I've been an on-again / off-again BBB user believer....summer before last I was on the road and had the "pool guy" back to take care of things. Long story short - when he took the cover off my liner had some really bad wrinkles - - some on the sides and a couple on the bottom. Good bye pool...

    Balancing before closing

I am certain that I'm doing the cya test correctly and I am consistently getting a zero read....could the reagents be bad ? I just bought the kit in August off Amazon (using TPF) link....I suppose I could make a visit to the pool store and have them test.

    Balancing before closing

I haven't kept count but I would guess at least that many this summer based on how many I would put in the chlorinator and how often I would throw them in there....I used the Bioguard tabs and shock and the last time the store tested their reading was 60 on the CYA - that was early August. We...

    Balancing before closing

This site has been a big help. I finished the summer using up my chlorine tablets but with my Taylor test kit I was able to keep from visiting the pool store and I'm looking forward to next year when I can go completely BBB. I had a ginormous bucket of tablets so I used them...have never had...

Should I wait to get a CYA reading before I begin the SLAM process - - I was reading today that I might have been getting a low (mine has been zero) CYA reading because the water was not at room temp. ? Do you know of any good test methods/kits for the color blind ?

We have used a "pool guy" every year until this one and he did a great job. Everyone (and by that I mean my spousal unit) said that this was a waste of money and I should do this myself (easy for him to say). After new liner installed this summer I thought I would give it a try. It's not been...
