DE to Cartridge Filter Conversion Question...

Chief, Good suggestion, but I don't have a vacuum hose or attachments anymore, so would have to scrounge some up. Might call a neighbor, see if he has any. I've demo'ed the old filter out, but have left the multiport valve plumbed in for now with it set to "recirc" just to keep the pool water...

DE to Cartridge Filter Conversion Question...

Howdy Gang, I am removing a 16+ year old Pentair FNS 60 DE filter from our pool. She just won't quit leaking, even with new a new band, o-rings, etc. I'm guessing somehow time in the hot Texas sun has caused the fiberglass case halves to be somewhat out of round with each other (happens to a...

It looks like I've been having the thing run waaaaay too long for waaaaaay too many years! Many thanks for the detailed response and the link to the run time post in...

Florida Atlantic University Pool Circulation Efficiency Study

Some eye popping claims in this research paper on Florida pools from 1984...such as...3-4 hours per day is more than adequate for chemical distribution; it isn't necessary to "turnover" a pool's volume (even once) in a day; >2 hours pump runtime results in imperceptible improvement in water...

Your thoughts: Old Jandy RS4 and Hayward Ecostar VSP

Doug, I am at a similar stage in pump replacement as you went through and would like to pick your brain about the process...I have an Aqualink RS8 controller running a 2hp Challenger energy hog pump, a setup leftover from the late 90's...and am finding out the same things about the so-called...
