Turned out that the Teflon tape on the inlet and outlet fittings had melted more or less leading to the failure. :-D With the tape replaced I'm now back up and running. I'm glad the pump was not damaged.

Thanks for the response I'll take a look at the o-rings first. I'm thinking that the intake fitting may be the culprit. I figured dead heading with water is better than running it dry. The pump/motor sounds fine but there must be a leak somewhere.

So yesterday my wife closed the valve to the deck jets and did not open any of the other returns to the pool. This resulted in the pump running for 6 hours with no where for the water to go. When I saw this I opened the valve to the main returns and the pump ran fine. The basket was warm to the...

I checked that Charlie. Both ends are submerged one on the vacuum the other in the skimmer.

That's what I assumed but it seams strange that my brand new 45' hose and the new suction cleaner hoses have holes. They are both fresh out of the box. I guess I just have bad luck or there is something else going on.

I have what seams to be a strange problem. When I go to Vacuum the pool I get air in the pump basket. This does not occur when I run the pool on the skimmer only position? It happens when I use the manual vac or the Creepy Krawly so unless I have holes in all of my hoses there is no way for air...

Don't leave a floater in a liner pool while you are away. It may float to a corner or the steps and bleach them. I learned this first hand unfortunately.
