I had an old electric box and upgraded the box to a new one. Now my pool pump does not have the same humming noise, it seems that it is pulling less water. In addition, the pump itself seems to be running hot. Any ideas?

What is the pump voltage? is it 110V or 220V?

my guess is it was reconnected as 110V vs the desired 220V - just a guess... Do you have any test equipment? Volt meter etc... Test the voltage at the motor...

If it's wired at 110 VAC, I can understand the increased amount of heat since its pulling more current. However, the fact that is is potentially pulling less water doesnt make a lot of sense if the only thing that has changed is the VAC it's running on. It should still spin at the same rpm. Unless the resistence is so high and the wattage is lowered enough that it doesnt spin as fast. That shouldnt be, but stranger things have happened.
