Hi, guys I'm new here , I posted here a few days ago hey-i-m-new-t40193.html, SO basically I moved into a new place and they have the Salt system connected to the pool, I'm completly new to pools , and since I been here I haven't bothered trying to look into the salt system, my neighbor helped me out a little and told me that the sensor system that the cables are not wired, and told me that salt is 10x better than chlorine and I should really try to fix it. So my question is I guess what is the best place to get maybe a new sensor? A pool guy told me that my cell is bad though. SO basically I'm a noob and I'm asking for advice what steps should I take to try and fix the Salt water system.

First, check out Pool School at the top right if you haven't already, it'll help you understand your system.

A salt pool is still a chlorine pool. The salt is converted to chlorine by your salt water chlorine generator (SWCG). Since you have it, fix it, it's a lot easier to maintain proper free chlorine levels with it.

You might just need to clean the cell, does it appear to have white scale on it? I got my SWCG stuff from http://www.poolnpatio.net/ as they seemed to have the lowest prices I could find for what I bought. They might have cells for your system also.

I am guessing you did not get manuals. I think Goldline was acquired by Hayward and this might be your manual http://www.hayward-pool.com/pdf/manuals/Manual345.pdf or you can look on Hayward's site here http://www.hayward-pool.com/prd/In-Grou ... -1___I.htm I have an Aqua rite and have been happy with it. I think you will be able to see how it should be installed and compare it to what you have, it will also have maintenance and troubleshooting suggestions.

I suggest you carefully read the articles in "pool school" and get a good test kit (I use TFtestkits ). There is a section on SWCG in the pool school section. I can only speak for myself, but if I had not learned how to maintain the pool using chemicals (bleach, tabs, etc) the Aquarite would have been an expensive show piece that would have been damaged by poor pool maintenance.
