I am clearing a swamp. If I leave the pump on overnight and the pressure rises to high will the filter cut off?

Thanks,
Michael

No. Your pump is capable of about 35-40psi or so. If the filter gets blocked, the psi will stop around there. Sometimes harmless enough but....

1. It will find any weak area on your pressure side and possibly spring a leak

2. You will waste ALL the electricity because your pump isn't doing any good.

3. You could theoretically overheat the pump and cause failure.

All in all, not a good idea. DE filters are troublesome to clean a swamp because they clog quite quickly. You are better off to run the pump when you can monitor it and backwash/recharge the filter after about a 20% rise in psi.

If you have to circulate overnight, use the Recirc/BOOST setting on your multiport. This will bypass the filter tank.
