Hi all,

I have an issue with our Hayward inlet basket. I go through at least a couple of them every year as they bust apart. I'm off to the store again for another, but before I go does anyone know of a generic brand that will work? It is the larger round one. Tired of these cheap plastic things breaking every time. Thanks.

Quit smacking them so hard or empty them more frequently.

The generics are fine as long as they fit.

Do you put tablets in the skimmer?

You have passed the OCLT when: 1)You lose 1ppm or less FC overnight, & 2)You have .5ppm CC's or less, & 3)your water is clear.

I do not put tablets in the skimmer. I do use the nylon inserts, but have also seen this since before using them. Also, I never smack the basket. I take the nylon out and use the bleed(?) valve on top of the filter housing to shoot a jet of water and clean the nylon. I've had too many baskets break to think of mistreating them.

Sounds like a weak design then. My Waterway basket is on it's third year and I beat the devil out of it.
