What did you do to your pool today?

It was already in the pool before I realized the mistake!

Yesterday I brushed, added 20 ppm of CYA to the old sock and started squeezing and turned the SWG down by 1 hour because FC is creeping up due to cooler weather. It's only 95 now, had to switch the solar controller from cool to heat. Kinda chilly!!!

Swept, vacuumed, and I'm now running the pump. I need to do a slight water top off from evaporation, but there is an 80% chance of rain today, so I'm holding off waiting to see if the added water is going to be free, or not LOL.

Once again, it will be storm cleanup today. Here we are in AUGUST and we got our first COLD FRONT!!!

It was genuine and from the North nice and hard, so we have a pool of leaves, dirt, Bird nests...and whatever else this morning. BOO!!!

How about a real summer next year? Is that too much to ask????

I finished plumbing in my wood fired pool heater yesterday. Now I get to add to the heat exchanger, to increase the surface area to grab more heat from the wood. Might be a wintertime project though.

With this cold front that has given us overnight lows in the 50's and 60's for the next week, it will come in handy.

Not too surprising to me, our high yesterday was only 68. When I fired the heater, the pool temp had fallen from 82 to 78 in a few hours. The current exchanger allowed me to halt the drop in temp. I think with greater surface area, I'll be able to maintain 20 to 25 over ambient.

I got a lot of rain last night.
This morning, i opend the overflow and let some water drain out. It was past the top of the skimmer. Of course with the rain came lots of leaves. So...
- emptied skimmer
- netted out a bunch of leaves
- brushed off the steps
- put the robot in to finish the cleanup
- Checked FC and pH with the OT chlorine test - all fine
- check the SWG for all lights being green. They are

I needed to add a few days ago but didn't do it that day and now after three days of rain glad I didn't. Now I'm at the upper limit.

Well.. I slept in.. late. So when I walk downstairs and look out the kitchen window I notice the pool deck is wet. Hmmmm... it isn't raining? OMG! The pool cleaner has flipped over and is spouting water out of the pool and the water is right below the skimmer! I run out and turn the pump off and assess the damage. Good grief. I was all dressed to go out shopping yet obviously need to fill the pool back up.... and I guess it is a good time to give some extra attention to the water line (since its now exposed!). Threw on my bathing suit and got to polishing it up and here I sit watching the hose fill...... <sigh>
