Electricians put in light cones and wired for light switches and fans. Roofer added water proof cover. Then clean up crew removed debree and dirty water from spa and pool.

Sorry, I've been very busy at work and have not had a chance to post some updates.

The roof has been completed. Builder decided to do the whole front roof of my garage in addition to the patio cover. He didn't want us to have a noticeable transition where old roof meets the new. Painters were not able to come by on time to finish the patio. So builder scheduled decking crew in front of them. I had concerns that paint will get on new deck, but he is confident they will cover everything.
Decking crew has been able to prep everything pretty quickly. However, we hit a stumbling block selecting colors. So the crew were not able to complete until we are sure with our selection. They came twice to get it finished. Yesterday they were not able to produce the samples that we liked. Today they came again, we tried to clarify our selection and it might have been different from what they understood yesterday. We hoped they would have a series of colors with them, but they only bring what is assigned to them for the job. So they said they will come back on Monday and we should talk to their boss. Builder has tried to help us decide, but it's a personal preference thing. At least he is being a good sport about it and is able to deal with the schedule changes. It is difficult to identify colors and patern that goes well with coping, house brick, and that we like. Hopefully we will make some progress next week. Below are some photos of the prepared deck and some samples that we didn't like. Now when I say "we", naturally I mean my wife and I, as I am standing by her preference, just like she would be standing by me if I wanted to go with different lights, pumps, cleaning systems, etc. Personally, I have a much wider range of colors that I am okay with, but luckily we are together and I trust her on this.

From the pictures, the samples look nice with the house brick but not as well with the coping.

What colors or tones are ya'll trying to find?

I find these types of decisions so difficult. I wish I could help, but I'm hopeless! Your pool is amazing, so I can understand why getting the deck right is so important.

If you look at the sample (on grass pic) where there are three separate colors, we like the two lighter ones. What we are thinking is to have those two on separately and then have fog created in reddish peach, but not as dark as the fog on the left sample. Ummm...this is the best that I can explain it.

nah, you will be so glad when they are done, and you have peace and quiet in your lovely peaceful retreat! If I am visualizing what you are describing correctly, your wife is right on, and it will be gorgeous!

Ha! You know, there was a point when I felt the same way. It seemed sort of nice having activity and people around each day. Now? I am well over it! I CANNOT wait to have our place back to the routines and the quiet! In fact, I was thinking not less than an hour ago how sick I am of setting up and chilling the Gatorade for the workdays. Isn't that awful to be so ungrateful to these guys working so hard in this heat?! (I even shamefully had the thought that if I quit providing drinks, etc maybe they would go away sooner...)

I like the lighter colors, also, for your deck.

The videos are great fun! You select the best music. Flight of the Bumblebee is perfect for the second video! And I had a funny thought for those of you familiar with the silent movies..... It seems with the time lapse video, haven't we gone back to those in a way? The unrealistically fast movement, no talking, just music! What's old is new again!!!

More videos, please!!!!!

I love your comments Suz. I think its very nice of you to provide Gatorade for them. Maybe I am wrong, but I always though a professional should be well prepared to do his or her work and care for the crew. That includes ensuring they bring drinks and everything else they need to be on top of their game.

We will try again with colors sometime this week. Today the patio was painted, irrigation repairs started, and new fence with gate was built. I came home late so pictures will have to wait for tomorrow.

Thanks for making the connection between silent movies and timelapses with music. I never would have thought of it that way. Its interesting how classic methods become reinvented. I think selecting which music to add is the most fun part of posting them. Just like with colors, I like wide range of music so I try to change it up on the videos. I wonder what I will choose when they do plaster or when the water fills or when I s-dip for the first time in my own pool. jk ...stay tuned.[emoji12]
