Hello, It has been 3 weeks since any chemicals added. Below is the current test results using Taylor K-2006C

pH 7.6
Alkalinity 40
Cyanuric acid 50
Calcium hardness 420
Salt 2300
CC 0
Free Chlorine 13(seems very high)

Water looks a bit cloudy. Since the FC is very high I turned off the salt generator.

Thank in advance!

Your TA (alkalinity) is a bit too low and should be kept at 50ppm minimum. The pH also isn’t valid when the chlorine is over 10ppm so you’ll want to test that again once it gets below 10ppm.

But if the water is cloudy, you may need the SLAM process which means your chlorine is too low now. Is it cloudy because it was under chlorinated earlier and now has algae or did you get some yard runoff into the water?

Same,

Glad to see you're up and running. If your temps are not getting out of the 60's you probably have no algae growth so also very little to no FC consumption. Your swg probably isn't making much chlorine at those temps also. So don't be surprised when FC drops pretty slowly. This is a great time to get to know your pool for that very reason. Not much chance of an algae bloom unless you heat the pool a lot. Here's another tip for you. Try adding your signature so our experts can understand all the details they may need when you ask a question. This saves you cycles to get answers and helps our experts be more efficient with their volunteer time. It's very easy, here's how.

I hope this is helpful.

Thank you for the reply. Stopped the pool guy’s service 3 weeks ago and have not added chemicals since then. It has been raining last couple of weeks but no chance of yard runoff into water. Will it take few weeks for chlorine to come down?

Thank you for the suggestion. I have updated my signature. Do not have pool heater so it has been around 50’s since winter. Stopped my weekly pool service recently.

Probably less than 3 weeks but too hard to say. Only way to know is to measure it every once in a while. Once summer comes you’ll be measuring much more frequently.

Stopped adding drop with color change. Il test it again. Thanks!
Sounds good. You'll end up a "Barbie Pink" color. Keep adding drops until it doesn't result in further color change. If a drop doesn't change the color, don't count that drop and the test is complete.
