Hi group,

I have a Jandy s series pump for my inground pool. My century motor, M48AA66D58 is fried. No one has this motor, not even Jandy. Inyo pool supply told me I could use Century USQ1252 single speed motor vs. the one I have which is variable speed with a slightly higher HP (2.7 vs. 2.5). Anyone have experience with replacing this Century/Jandy motor? If so, which one did you replace with and how hard was the replacement? Many thanks

I'm not sure what pump you have. Do you know the model number? I would not advise using a single speed pump, it would be quite expensive to run.

In doing further research, it appears that the century 2.7 hp motor is being phased out. The motor number you gave is associated with the variable speed 2.7 century motor. There is now a 2.25 hp variable speed motor made by century that looks to be a replacement. The programming is far from robust; only 8 pre selected schedules that cannot be changed. Here it is at inyo pools: Century (A.O. Smith) V-Green EVO 2.25 HP Up Rate VS Motor, Square Flange 48Y Frame, Variable Speed - Model EVQ225 - INYOPools.com

If you can get a 2.25THP Century EVO with Century Connect, it will communicate with your system. Would also need to install a 1.5hp impeller.
