2023 Bleach Prices

Consider yourself lucky in Texas, the Wally’s around me don’t even stock chlorine this time of year. The big box stores stock it but it’s closer to $7 a gallon.

Last I saw at Home Depot it was $18.99 for 2. Luckily I was just passing through that aisle to gawk at the mystery potions on my way the brick aisle.

Have you seen the price of water softener salt? I paid $5 and some change when I converted to salt last year, paid $8.97 when I grabbed a couple bags for my water softener this week.

I ended up checking Home Depot a few times per month to check the stock of the 2 stores close to me. When I would see a decent amount in stock, I would order 24-32 gallons for local delivery charge of $9. I didn't have to worry about getting old stock because whenever I saw the quantity in stock was a high number, that means they just received several new pallets. Lowes always had some gallons in stock but they were expensive and were always fairly old.

The tri-chlor I bought from Costco had "clarifiers" in it so I just used it sparingly over the summer. I just ran out so I used 37 lbs in 7 months. I probably went through 40-45 gallons of bleach with plenty left over to use until spring while the water is cold.
Wait, did I read that correctly? Home Depot delivered 24-32 gallons, i.e. 12-16 two gallon boxes, for just $9.00?

Curious, where do you store such a qty of LC?

Everything is crazy expensive, I prices 4 Pleatco filters on amazon and It was over $300! Last set I bought was around $150.
You may look at filtersfast.com. I have not yet tried their pool filters but I am planning on doing so. They are currently ~$225 for 4 of the PCC105 filter equivalents.

Reckon there is a fair bit of price jacking of "just because" over the reality of supply chain delays, covid issues etc. In my neck of the woods products don't seem to have supply issues any more. You want it you just go get it, but the prices reflect as if half the work force is out of action. You can also get a lot of bottles of bleach on a truck that is costing another 40c per km to run. The math doesn't match the retail hike.

Got to love pool chemical companies though. Just looking at some Sodium Bicarbonate. Pool company branded $4kg, povo house cleaning supermarket brand $1kg. Then chuck the snake oil salesperson down the pool shop in and its a wonder they exist at all. Very good to have TFP as a great resource or reliable trustworthy info. :)(y)

This is insane. I think even the price of SWG has gone up 25% and the availability is a lot less than has been.
The universal 55 I have been eyeing is still the same price as it was in March 2022 which is ironically $200 lower than it was in June 2021.
