First ever Pool Test...and not the last!

Darn it..this attachment thingy ain't going too well..... Anyhow, trying to understand the calculator and yesterdays actions...my next step is having the CYA dissole and re-record to an acceptable reading of 40?

Then I can address the TA levels (Baking Soda) & CH levels (Calcium Chloride)?

Can this be done simultaneously, or, first thing is first? CYA levels at 40.

Lastly, should I be concerned of the greenish color in the pool after yesterdays adding of chemicals? Thanks everyone.

Still trying to figure this all out..though it's certainly enjoyable.

Don't worry about TA or CH yet.

1) Can you update your signature with your info (pool type/size/test kit)
2) When you say green do you mean clear green or cloudy green. A picture would be great.
3) Can you post your last test (FC, CC at least)

Hi Mr Bruce, thanks for the response.

(1). I thought I had already updated the signature, I will try again.
(2).

(3). I can post these at lunchtime today.

Appreciate the heads up on the TA and CH

Hi Bruce,

I think I fixed the signature. Thanks again for your help...I'd say the pool looks like a clear green?
A pale clear green immediately after chlorinating means there's some Iron in the water. It will generally disappear by itself in a day or two.

If the green showed up hours after chlorine and/or the walls feel slimy and/or the water is getting cloudy, that's algae.

Derry! Now I see your siggy! Can you add what kind of filter that is-sand, DE, cart. so we do not have to look it up (yeah we can be lazy LOL)

You are doing great! How is the PH reading going for you? Did my trick work?

Hi Bruce

FC 2.5

CC 0

Hopefully this makes sense

I will say that the sock-stabilizer- is still not fully dissolved.

Also, still pale green in color.

Thanks for your help

Good morning folks, I did not perform any testing last night or this morning. The socks were completely dissolved and the pool still has that pale green look.

So my next step shall be to test for CYA levels?

Yes do the CYA test. Fill to the first line, GLANCE in the tube. IF you can still see the dot, fill to the next line, GLANCE in. IF you can still... keep going until you do not see the dot with a GLANCE. If you stare you will see the dot LOL
