We have had a saltwater system for almost 5 years. After replacing our coping twice due to corrosion we are getting rid of it now that it has died.

After reading much of this website, it seems like converting to the BBB method is the way to go.

I must get rid of all the salt in my pool to stop the corrosion of my coping. How do I get it all out of the pipes, water feature, filter etc.?

Since the salt generator quit working we have put chlorine sticks in the skimmer and at this time the water is clear. Pool looks great.

As you drain and refill the pool the salt concentration will become more diluted. You won't be able to get rid of 100% of the salt, since chlorine adds a small amount of salt to the water as well. What is your salt level currently?

Current salt is 3100.
Forgot to mention location of Houston.

So all pools have SOME salt? Texsun said if I only drained 3/4 of the pool and replaced with unsalted water I should be okay.

It is critical to be sure we remove enough salt so our coping will quit being turned to mush by the salt.

What kind of coping do you have? Just curious.

A typical pool that has been running for a few years will run around 1,000 to 1,500 ppm of salt even if you never added any.

Also, in nearly every case coping that is damaged by salt would have been damaged without salt, it just would have taken a little longer.
