Mats,

I've not posted in here, but I've read it all and like everyone else I'm impressed with your build quality. Here's hoping you have another great start when the weather cooperates.

Good luck with the Dylan concert. I haven't seen him since a 1974 concert with The Band in St Louis, Missouri. My youngest son saw him a couple years ago in Orlando, Florida and said his voice was failing - I hope he's in better shape when he tours your side of the world.

Lee

Thanks Lee :)
I know what to expect voice wise when it comes to Zimmy  most concertes are recorded and are available a few hours after each show. I think he improved the last couple af years when it comes to clearness. It's of greatest importance that every new Dylan visitor "educate" himself before he/she attend to the first show. Even for me can some songs be unrecognaisable before I hear the words. Sara my daughter have looked him up on youtube so she knows what to expect.
The show in Sweden is still unconfirmed but what I've heard is the one in Norway more or less settled, so there is where I steer my wheels if that's the case.

Thanks for the input Lee and have a great weekend

Hey there Lynn, sorry for the late reply but I have been away working on and off for a couple of weeks now.

Here is the pic! I was a bit hesitant to post it after all.You know! If you live where I live you look a bit like a joke in the mid february   and you don't wanna disgrace yourself on a site like this. Already done most of you thinks, hahaha. See right there we have a little disagrement folks, I happen to be totally normaL, in each and every post of mine there a substancial info reagarding my build. You have to read closely but it's all there if you search for it. I promise to be straight with only post pool related stuff as soon all the snow pleases to melt away outside. But until then feel free to entertain me/yourself with whatever you have in mind at the moment.

I was on the job interview today and it went well. I think I have a good chance to getting the job if I were to guess. So far so good! But there wasn't any talk about under what condition in terms of salary and other benefits the job is about. So I have to wait and see what will come out of it in the end.

As I said above is it still a lot of snow outside and the temperature continues to stay very low, so our woodpan really pays off at the moment. I have a few friends that heat their houses with electricity and it has become very expensive for them this winter while we doesen't see much difference in wood consumption :goodjob: But I really hope for some drastic change in the weather so I can start over with my pool deck. Last weekend I shoveld away the snow infront of the kitchen where I shall pour the foundations to the beams that gonna hold the roof over it. In hope for the early sun to thaw the ground. That is something I have to do before I can start with the pooldeck itself.

To get the pool deck finished before the pool is filled is a minimum requirement from my side. And since this winter have been as it has, have we know started to discuss to hire people to help us with this task. Beacuse this summer shall the pool be filled with water, period......

Nice friday beer everyone!!

hahaha mpride! I'm all over the place haven't you looked 8-)

I have used this week to prepared myself mentally that I will continue the build very soon now. It's strange how easy you forget things when you let them go for a while.
Before the winter did I have everything in mind about every step I need to take to get the pool finished, now feels it like I have to start all over again. However! I have now the next few steps perfectly clear to me again!
I will start with lifting the roof construction so I display the top of the walls in order to be able to mount the coping. I have to mount new beams inside of the the pool that will hold the roof during that process.
After that is done is concrete around the skimmers next in line before I can undertake the pool deck. As I have mentioned before is the pooldeck crucial for me to be able fill upp the pool. the remaining task's is something I will work with at the same time as we use the pool.
I must say that I didn't calculate with this long winter and for that reasons I have to ease on my earlier demands that everything must be done before we start's to use the pool. Kids starts to ask me if the pool really will be ready for use early this summer, and I have said yes of course
There are quite some work left on the project. Even if the heavy construction work is done all these little details takes more time than you think.

//Mats

Project starts again tomorrow after 4 months of rest.
I have made a time-table that I hope I can keep up with!
Please forgive me my weariness that I can't decide once and for all on how to proceed, BUT.... It's to early in the season for me to remove the roof or lift it up like I said in my previous post. So instead of starting with the coping that my plan was the other day. Have I now come to the conclusion that I will start with the kitchen instead and let the roof stays on and wait for more stable weather to come by.

Most of the snow has now melted away so I feel I need to get going asap! I have changed back and forths so many times now that I'm about to loose it.
Actually trying to figuring out the best practice when it comes to planning something you build for the first time is really hard. I know that I'm afterwards will feel that missed many things but I do my best to minimize it.
Every task that is left is sort of woven together so I have to compromise one way or the other.

As a note can I add that If my weariness isn't enough, did I broke two ribs last saturday night on the way home from the pup :hammer: My doctor belives I will need a good three weeks to recover. I will defy this by starting a bit easy tomorrow.

Time table step one!
Pour foundation to the kitchen roof week 12
Grind and seal both counters Week 12
Build the forms to the concrete beams and pour them Week 13
Brick up the walls on both counters Week 13
Complete the molding on the top of the surroundig-
walls with black concrete Week 14-15

Time table step two!
mount the remaining glass mosaik with epoxy around-
the skimmers Week 16
Remove the roof Week 16
Mount the coping Week 16
Pour concrete around the skimmers Week 17
Grout the tiles inside the pool(contractor) Week 17
Reinforce pooldeck and place the drains Week 18-20
Pour the pooldeck and sealent (contractor + me) Week 21

Time table step three!
Finish the machineroom (contractor + me) Week 22
Fill the pool Week 22

Remaining tasks not yet dated!
Stucco on the surrounding walls
Lamp on the walls
Roof on the kitchen
Lids on the inspections openings in the pool deck and also to the machineroom
Gates to main entrance to poolarea made of metal and one made of wood on the backside
Mounting equipment in the kitchen
Mounting the outdoor shower
Outdoor speakers and stereo
Equipment to roll up the "sunblanket" on

There are probably much more under the point remaining tasks but for now on that is not important!
If just my body will serve me right I think I can get this time-table to work! I could take chance and rip off the roof right away and start with the coping immmediately and hope for the weather to be nice and that way get to bath a month before this estimation but I'm afraid that this early spring weather can be pretty nasty, so I play it a bit safer and wait by removing the roof until week 16.

And like always! This long post shall be seen as a "talking to myself in a monologue type of post" :whoot: Like I said above do I hope if I present it here will I put more efforts to fullfill it. I'm awful tired of changing plans every now and then!

Take it easy everyone and stay away from your bicycles on sturday nights especially if it's slippery

I have persuded Eva to help me dig the two holes in the ground tomorrow something I can't do myself at the moment, so I can fix with the reinforcement.
Do I have to tell you that she's one women my wife  I push her like a slave-driver and there is a risk that she leaves me before this is over
No, that won't happen. I'd would rather fill the hole with dirt before that happens..... oops there I was again :hammer:

Oh Mats, do be prudent with those ribs. BTW.... sorry about the pain and slow down on your pool work.

I deeply bruised my ribs about a month ago. Yes, pool related. I was moving the old filter down the hill a bit, after cutting it out of system, some pipes still attached. It flipped on its side, with a pipe slamming me in the ribs on its way down the hill. Ribs are still sore, driving and when I cough.

With fractures you have to be very careful, even if the pain doesn't stop you from doing things. Please get in some healing time before riding your bike again too. :whip:

I so enjoy your post.

Hi Alice  and thanks for your concern I really appreciate it.
You're absolutely right Alice, I have underestimated this injury. It's now over a week ago since I broke them and I'm still in pain if I do the lightest of work. I came just inside after what I thought myself a very easy work out there in the pool. All I did was welding together a few rebars while DW(Yeah...I can might awell use that short name instead of Eva like everybodyelse on this site  ) dug out two holes in the ground and now I'm really sore in my ribs. This is actually the first time I can remember that I can't do what I want beacuse of an injury and that is irritating to say at least. Last week before I went to the doctor did I participate to my compulsory aerobic workout. I have always resonated that I can train pain away, but not this time. I struggled through half of the workout but then I had to give up. When I came home did I have pain just breathing :hammer:
X-ray showed the day after that my lowest rib on the left hand side had snapped apart and the one above was a fracture on so there were an explanation why I was in pain after all

I have to tell you Alice while I can, that I'm so impressed that you live your daily life around all those poisonous creatures that you seems to be exposed to. Myself is such a coward when it come to poisonus things that crawls around. One of my biggest fears would be that one morning when I open my front door see a big fat snake laying there curled together right on the steps. Thank God I live in Sweden beacuse that will never happens here 8-) But I guess that is something that can happens where you live. I'm turning 42 this summer and have only seen one snake in my entire life and I hope I'll never see one again. My mother always scared me when I was a child, I think that's the reason for my fear
While I worked in Australia did Ihave to put myself through the biggest procedure every evening before bedtime. I had to check Closet, drawers under the bed and on all those places numerous times before I could sleep. I always had my door closed and the window was covered with a mosquito net so there was never really a chance for something to slip in, but still.
I always talks about myself Alice  when I just wanna tell you that when I come to knock on your door you really have to clear the area before :-D

It's good to be back building on my pool again, I felt really motivated today despite only a half night of sleep. I can only sleep on my back at the moment and beacuse of that do I wake up many times during the night. But like always when I can't sleep do I come up with some brilliant ideas, that I'm not gonna tell you yet 8-)
Not much achived today but....... since it's the first time for a long time I built something at all out there did I take out the camera.

Thank you Casey! I'm much better right now. I can even change side on which I sleep during the night :-D

I just wanna take the chance to thanks everybody that have helped me during my build with great advice and very fun posts that I have appreciated alot.
I don't think I will have the opportunity to finish my build here with you for reasons I don't wanna go into. But I can establish that the timeframe I've posted before holds water  and the pool will be ready for use in the beginning of June :goodjob:

So I make my last post here and thanks for the help and interest that you have showed.
omg I almost have a tear in my eye right now hahahaha :-D

I cannot believe we will not see the finished pool. I have been following this all along. If the reason is no camera...I will send you one!...this is such a bummer!

Yes, this is quite disheartening, as we have followed this thread with great interest. It's an intriguing story like a book we can't put down. However, we'll still be right there with you, Mats. Hope all is well.
