Our cover has maybe 1" or less of green water in it so I don't think I can siphon it out. Is there a trick to getting it off and getting the least amount of water in the pool? We've had a lot of rain lately so the water level in the pool is high (there are holes at the posts and I guess that's where the rain gets in) so it's all spread out. It is an 18' above ground pool.

By pulling sections of the cover around you can get the water too all pool in a fairly small area, where it will be practical to syphon most of it off.
