I am planning on starting the much anticipated conversion to chlorine this weekend . Would it be good to vacuum the pool (still has the cover on right now ) prior to adding the first round of bleach ?

If there is a lot of crud on the bottom, sure why not. :goodjob:

Good luck with the conversion, be sure to take before, during and after pics. We love pics.

On Friday night I vacuumed as many of the leaves and such as I could get and on Saturday morning at 9am I began the long awaited conversion from Baquacil to Chlorine . All testing was done with TF100 test kit .
As you will see in the pics I didn't see all the great color action nor any white stuff floating on top (no disappointment there), I am guessing due to the fact we have not put any Baquacil stuff into the pool since September of last year ...

Pic before adding any chlorine . At this point I added 728 oz of 6% Chlorine

Image

11am tested .5 FC , added another 728 oz

Image

1pm tested 1.5 FC , added 637 oz

Image

3pm tested 3.5 FC , added 546 oz

Image

5pm tested 8.5 FC , added 273 oz

Image

7pm tested 13 FC / 6 CC / 7.5 PH , added 91oz

Image

10pm tested 14.5 FC , did not adjust

The next day I could see the bottom easily in the shallow end and the main drain was just barely visible 9' down
9am tested 6 FC / 5.5 CC , added 410 oz

Image

Image

11am tested 10 FC , added 230 oz

1pm tested 10 FC , added 230 oz

3pm tested 9.5 FC , added 230 oz

5pm tested 8 FC / 2.5 CC , added 320 oz

Image

9:30pm tested 14 FC / 1.5 CC added 45 oz

11:30 tested 15 FC / 3.5 CC

The next morning (after 48 hrs) things are looking pretty good , clearer yet ...
Tested 10.5 FC / 2.5 CC added 230 oz

Image

11am tested 5.5 FC added 454 oz

1pm tested 7.5 FC / 2 CC added 364 oz

3pm tested 10 FC / 1 CC / PH 7.2 / TA 120 / CH 210 , added 230 oz

7pm tested 6 FC / 1 CC added 410 oz

9pm tested 16.5 FC / 1.5 CC

This morning the pool is very clear ...
6:30am tested 14 FC / 2 CC did not add anything , will check again at lunch and adjust as necessary , hopefully the CCs will come down in the next 24 hrs and at that point I will change the sand and add the CYA ....
