I am in the process of adding CYA to my pool using the sock method. I also have to change the cartridge in my filter. I read that for sand filters, they shouldn't be backwashed for a week after adding CYA. Is there a similar rule for not changing a cartridge for a certain period after adding CYA or does this not apply? Don't want to lose the CYA I just added by switching filters.

Thanks!

The caution for sand filters is when you DO NOT use the sock method. Since you have chosen the sock method, you do not have to worry about losing CYA at all.

If you had a sand filter and did not use the sock method, the CYA would be drawn into the filter as a solid and, potentially backwashed out of the system if you did not wait for it to be fully dissolved within the filter.
